MAKE ART IN L.A.

Creative Workshops Led by Top-Notch Instructors . . . hosted by Barbara Buckles

THE WORKSHOP SPACE

The Loft at Liz's Antique Hardware

Unless otherwise noted, workshops will be held at The Loft at Liz's, located upstairs above Liz's Antique Hardware, 453 S. La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90036.

This is no ordinary location...it's a destination in itself. Situated in the historic Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles, the hardware store was born in 1979 when Liz happened upon a 4,000 square foot warehouse in Chicago filled to the brim with objects culled by a local picker from garage sales, abandoned buildings, and flea markets. Liz purchased the contents and, with her keen eye, set to work organizing the haphazard treasure trove. Liz's Antique Hardware has since become a staple for the Southern California antique and interior design community.

The New York style loft space above the hardware store is actually an art gallery featuring artists from around the world and also hosts live events. Now it is home to Make Art in L.A.

Note: While we do try to be as inclusive as possible for all, we regret that due to our location and studio only being accessible by stairs, our facilities are not wheelchair friendly.

LOCAL ACCOMMODATIONS

If you're coming in from out of town, here are a few hotels you might want to check out.

Location, location, location! The most important factor in choosing a hotel for your visit to L.A. is location...traffic can get really bad, so before booking anything, refer to a map and find something close to our workshop venue...NOT downtown, and NOT near the airport.

Here are a couple of my slightly off-beat favorites...of course you can always choose from the better known entities from Best Western all the way up to the Four Seasons.

Now, if you really want the L.A. experience and are prepared to pay some big bucks and drive a bit while you're here, look into the Sunset Marquis. As their website says, "If we were any more Hollywood, our pool would be shallow at both ends. " I had to add them just because of that quote.
